Erfurt. Nine hospitals in Thuringia can expect an additional financial injection from health insurers next year. They will receive a security surcharge, as can be seen from an agreement between the main associations of health insurers and hospitals. According to the health insurer BARMER, a total of 3.2 million euros will go to Thuringia.
The Thuringian clinics in Saalfeld, the Helios clinic in Meiningen, the KMG hospital Sondershausen and the municipal clinic in Bad Salzungen will benefit from the surcharges. The Schleiz hospital, which is run by a private provider and was recently subject to self-administration insolvency proceedings, will also receive a contract.
To receive funding, typically €400,000 each, hospitals must, among other things, run specialist departments of internal medicine and surgery and provide basic emergency care. The criteria were set by the main associations and are based on the Hospital Financing Act. €60 million will be paid to 121 hospitals across the country next year. (dpa/th)
