Performance limits in the first years of the contract

Many insurers are now announcing that they are waiving the usual eight-month waiting period for new customers to receive reimbursement for their first denture bill. With a new provider, policyholders will still only be entitled to full insurance benefits after three to seven years.

Previously, annual limits applied. For example, such a scaling is typical: 1,000 euros in the first 12 months from the conclusion of the contract, 2,000 euros in the first 24 months, 3,000 euros in the first 36 months and 4,000 euros in the first 48 months. The full benefit is only available from the fifth year onwards – unless dentures are required due to an accident.

Bonus booklet increases cash portion

A little extra money from the health insurance company is available to all policyholders, regardless of income, provided that they have a dental check-up once a year and have this confirmed by a stamp on their bonus slip. You will then receive a higher lump sum benefit in addition to your standard pension, up to a maximum of 75 percent. This is only a small help for a bill with a high private component, but some supplementary dental insurance companies also offer higher reimbursements to customers who visit the dentist regularly.
