The strawberry season in the Dingolfing-Landau district is slowly coming to an end. As the district office reports, the strawberry fields can no longer be accessed after the end of the sales season for the fruit harvest. There are two important reasons for this.
problems last year
“We had problems with this last year, this year we want to inform citizens about it in good time,” district spokesman Markus Allmannshofer told BR. Entry to the camps is prohibited for various reasons.
Plant protection products can be harmful to health
For one, farmers often apply pesticides to strawberry fields after the end of the harvesting season – usually herbicides. This may mean that the fruit is no longer suitable for consumption. Health problems may result.
Break-in and robbery
Additionally, police and the county office point out that you’re committing a crime if you trespass on someone else’s property. Picking strawberries, apples, or potatoes from a field is a clear case of theft if you haven’t requested permission in advance, Allmanshofer says. Anyone who fails to do so also risks being charged with trespassing.
