North and Chicago West are not Sephora tweens yet, according to Kim Kardashian. (Though you probably don’t have to shop for makeup at all when your mom and aunt both own cosmetics companies.)
Though Kardashian isn’t up-to-date on the “kids at Sephora” debate, she has changed her mind about her own children’s relationship with makeup over the years. Kardashian shares four children with ex-husband Kanye West: North, 9; Saint, 7; Chicago, 5; and Psalm, 4.
“My littlest’s too little and I don’t let her [wear makeup],” the 43-year-old SKKN by Kim founder told Bustle of her daughters while promoting the skin care company’s first cosmetics collection. “I look back and there’s times when I remember I let my daughter [North] wear a red lip once for Christmas,” Kardashian added, likely referring to the 2018 Kardashian-Jenner Christmas party back when North was five years old.
“Would I do that now? Probably not,” Kardashian continued. “At least with my oldest daughter, she just likes to dress her friends up and do makeup looks, whether it’s like Pikachu or the Grinch.” Kardashian added, “I don’t think she’s there yet to where she is going into Sephora and trying on stuff. We were at Saks in the makeup department the other night and she tested something but put a heart on her face with it. I’m like, I don’t think that’s really why you use eyeliner.”

Back in 2018, Kim Kardashian defended her choice to let North wear a red lip to the family gathering after a bit of online uproar. “Famous or not it’s odd for a 5 year old to be wearing lipstick and makeup,” one user wrote on the app formerly known as Twitter. Little did they know, North was modeling a shade from her mom’s late KKW Beauty line (RIP).
