Berlin. The telephone assessment of care needs is well received by both those in need of care and their relatives. This emerges from a survey of around 70 specialists from the Federal Medical Service.
The evaluation of the responses by an independent scientific institute resulted in a positive overall picture of the experiences with structured telephone surveys. M+M Management + Marketing Consulting GmbH also concluded that the evaluation was targeted and was perceived as a relief by those involved.

The legislator created the possibility of carrying out nursing assessment for updating and repeat assessments by telephone with the Nursing Support and Relief Act in July 2023.
“The structured telephone interview is a sensible and appropriate complement to assessment formats for determining the need for care and can be adopted permanently in practice,” Vice President Carola Engler said in the evaluation report on Wednesday.
The next step should now be the introduction of video-supported assessment. This will expand the possibilities for location-independent assessments. It also offers additional visual information. The obstacle, however, is the lack of technical requirements. Stable internet access is still not available in many locations, both in nursing homes and in the home environment, Engler said. (af)
