The law states: The manufacturer is liable for damages resulting from product defects. In the event of injury or illness, he must pay medical and hospital expenses, loss of earnings, compensation for moral damages and compensation for material damages in excess of 500 euros. He does not have to be at fault. If the goods come from outside the EU, the importer is liable. The retailer pays if he cannot say who is responsible for the product.
