Note: I agree with the reviewers who run small. I went with the largest size I have, and my heel hit the edge of the shoe. And because they barely fit my feet, the strap dug in when I tried to put them on behind my ankle.

Cute clogs aren’t always comfortable, thankfully this pair from Steve Madden ticks both boxes. “I have high arches and was pretty impressed with how lightweight and supportive they are,” says a SELF editor. “I tested them out in 90-degree summer weather and noticed my feet sweating a bit inside, and since they’re all faux leather (even the footbed), they’re not very breathable. But since I wear them in the fall and winter, I don’t think that’ll be a big issue.”
Also good to know: “The uppers buckled almost immediately after trying them on, so if you like the worn look, you’ll love these,” says our tester. “The buckle is surprisingly high quality, too.”

Rothy’s has always been about comfortable footwear, so when they launched their version of a clog, we had to try it. “Every time I wear them outside, I feel like I’m getting away with something, but yeah, even though they look like slippers, they really are outdoor shoes!” says a SELF editor.
They’re made of either merino wool or hemp, depending on the style you choose, which gives them a casual, comfortable feel. But their rubber soles make them durable, perfect for walking on pavement. “I’m a fan of the roomy toe box and the mid-height arch of the insole that hits my foot in just the right spot to support my former ballet dancer feet,” says our editor.
FYI: They’re not ideal for brisk walking, she says. “When I pick up the pace, I sometimes take my clogs off right away, so I stick to sneakers for errands or walking around town, and I wear them for brisk dog walks and casual walks.”
