Berlin – A Nursing Care Act aims to create an independent, nationwide professional profile for nursing care. This comes from a bill by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) and the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) outside.
Taking into account the increasing number of people who will need care in the future and the current shortage of qualified nursing staff, the use of the potential of a quality-assured combination of qualifications in nursing cannot be dispensed with, according to the draft. German medical journal is present.
Among other things, the opportunity for national mobility should be strengthened and clear development pathways for advanced qualification as a nursing specialist should be developed in accordance with the Nursing Professions Act. Regulations for the recognition of foreign professional qualifications should also be regulated nationwide.
In addition, an “adequate training remuneration” guaranteed by federal law will be introduced. A generalist orientation should also give graduates access to all areas of nursing care, such as generalist nursing training.
However, it is not yet clear whether this should occur as part of an 18-month “nursing assistant training” or, alternatively, as part of a 12-month “nursing assistant training”.
From now on, both the job titles and the training durations can be found in the draft law – for the government’s draft law, a decision between the two versions should be made “based on feedback in the participation process”. Funding for training should be ensured, similar to the Nursing Professions Act, through the creation of training funds at state level.
The additional costs of the planned regulations are estimated in the draft statutory health insurance act (GKV) at a total of around 220 million euros per year of training. © aha/aerzteblatt.de
