Former US President and current presidential candidate Donald Trump says he has chosen a running mate in November’s US presidential election, but has yet to tell anyone about it. Asked by a reporter in Philadelphia whether he had made up his mind, Trump replied: “In my mind, yes.”
Trump traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for a campaign appearance and previously stopped at a steakhouse. There he was applauded by supporters and also answered some questions from reporters.
The 78-year-old wants to challenge current Democrat Joe Biden (81) in the presidential elections in early November. Biden is running again in the elections with his current vice-president, Kamala Harris, who, like him, faces low popularity ratings. For months, Trump has given free rein to speculation about who he will bring to his side as his vice president.
The position of vice president is not easy
Now Trump has campaigned vigorously. Before his trip to Philadelphia, he sought votes at a gathering of politically influential evangelical Christians in the US capital, Washington. Biden, on the other hand, spent the weekend at Camp David, the US president’s rural retreat near Washington, to prepare for the upcoming televised debate between him and Trump.
The position of vice president is generally not easy: the deputy’s job is to praise and represent the president’s policies, while at the same time giving his own accent, but without stealing the show from the boss, and not making mistakes, but without make it shine a lot. Trump, in particular, doesn’t like sharing fame and attention with others.

During their parties’ internal primaries, Biden and Trump secured from the beginning the necessary number of delegates for the party nominating conventions in the summer, where presidential candidates will be officially nominated. The Republican nominating convention is scheduled for July 15-18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
