The really big dream has come true! Germany narrowly failed to beat Spain in the European Championship quarter-finals in Stuttgart, 1-2 after extra time.. The bitter end to the Euros also affects Jamal Musiala, who now has to give up his hopes of being the top scorer of this tournament. When the team were eliminated on Friday night, the German international did not score a single goal and now has three goals.
The Dutchman now has the best chance of leaving this tournament as top scorer Cody Gakpowho scored his fourth goal against the Turks on Saturday night. Spain’s Dani Olmo, who scored in the 1-0 win over Germany on Friday, still has a theoretical chance. England’s Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham failed to improve on Saturday night in the European Championship quarter-finals against Switzerland. Both remain on two goals in the tournament. Breel Embolo scored his second goal of the tournament but was eliminated by Switzerland. Jamail Musiala has three successes and leads the overall standings together with the Georgian Georges Mikautadze and the Slovak Ivan Schranz no. Since Mikautadze also contributed an assist, Musiala would fall behind in the race for the Golden Boot. If the players are equal in goals and assists, the number of minutes played will determine whether the Golden Boot is awarded. However, Musiala’s biggest competitors have been eliminated. Germany is out – sadness, pride and anger
German striker Kai Havertz was among the pursuers with two goals, too Germany’s noble joker, Niclas Füllkrug. Main stars like Kylian Mbappe or Cristiano Ronaldowho had the greatest chances in the preparation for the tournament, still failed to live up to expectations. Mbappe failed to score in France’s 1-0 win over Belgium and in the quarter-finals against Portugalbut still has the opportunity to add more. The French star currently has one goal and one assist. Cristiano Ronaldo experienced a personal drama in the round of 16 against Sloveniawhen he missed a penalty in extra time and thus missed out on becoming the oldest goalscorer in the European Championship. He will not be able to achieve that feat again after Portugal’s exit.
Is it because of the mask? French superstar Kylian Mbappe has scored just one goal at the 2024 European Championship. He still has a long way to go to become the top scorer.
