Munich’s Minister of Health and Prevention, Judith Gerlach, presented the priorities for a prevention master plan yesterday. At an event in the evening, she officially gave the starting signal for the joint development of the master plan with the 150 partners of the Alliance for Prevention.

With our Prevention Master Plan, we want to support people in the Free State in leading a healthy lifestyle. It will be our compass for the major challenges to our health that arise from the conditions of our modern world, said the CSU politician.

Prevention measures need to be further developed, especially taking into account the health consequences of climate change and demographic change.

The safety nets of the master plan are already in place, Gerlach said. Among other things, prevention structures in Bavaria will be further expanded, prevention reports will be created and a Bavarian Prevention Day will be organized annually.

In addition, healthcare professionals will receive additional training on health promotion and prevention together with the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety.

However, we will never be able to reach everyone in Bavaria with our prevention topics alone, Gerlach emphasized. Therefore, all citizens are called upon to publish their suggestions on the platform. www.praevention.bayern.de to present.

The master plan should then be specifically designed in the coming months, with the involvement of the partners of the Prevention Alliance, and decided in the summer of 2025. © aha/aerzteblatt.de
