Fort Worth. Grayson Murray is dead. Teammates and those in charge are shocked. The golf pro was just 30 years old.
The golf scene is mourning the loss of two-time PGA Tour winner Grayson Murray. As announced by the tour on its home page, the American died on Saturday, aged 30. Nothing was initially known about the antecedents or cause of death. Grayson’s management also confirmed the sad news of his death, but declined to comment further.
They are devastated. “I’m speechless,” said Jay Monahan of PGA Tour. “We mourn Grayson and pray for his loved ones.” He also had contact with Murray’s parents and expressed his deepest condolences to them.
During the conversation, parents also asked to end the current tournament. His son would have wanted it that way too. “As difficult as it is, we will respect your wishes,” Monahan said. Murray himself announced his withdrawal from the tournament in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday. Colleagues also reacted with great consternation on social media. (dpa)
