I really thought Hailey Bieber’s glazed-donut nails had loosened their hold on me—and the trend cycle in general—but I was so wrong. I still love them, and it seems like Bieber does too, because she’s back with a 2.0 version of the viral mani.
Though Bieber had briefly moved away from the frosty chrome nail look, she’s back in the glazed-donut grip again. Her manicurist, Zola Ganzorigt, shared the details behind the 2024 take on glazed nails, saying that “it’s been almost two years since it went viral and has become a red-carpet classic.” Understatement of the year! The glazed look has been everywhere.
For the Vanity Fair Oscars After-Party, Ganzorigt tweaked the existing glazed-donut nail formula, swapping the pearly white base for a sheer nude pink (OPI’s GelColor in Bare My Soul, to be exact), making Bieber’s nails look less like a sugary dessert and more like a glistening pink seashell. One element of the manicure still stands strong: the salon-only OPI Chrome Effects powder in Tin Man Can, the product responsible for that signature glimmer. Glazed Donut 2.0 is subtler than its older sister thanks to the pale pink base, with a slick of shimmer versus a full frosting.

This is the latest iteration of the glazed look for Hailey Bieber and Ganzorigt, who are constantly tweaking the formula of her now signature mani. In fall 2023 they introduced the “mirror glaze,” and prior to that they experimented with different foodie twists, like the “strawberry glaze,” inspired by Bieber’s favorite donut. I totally get why she can’t stop wearing it; it’s simple and versatile to go with everything in your closet but still feels special. And it landed just in time for my next manicure appointment!
