Olly Alexander is not a blank slate from which the British made a (loud) leaflet Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) to bend. He is the opposite model: already so well-known that he is a wax figure in “Madame Tussauds” in London; so politically sharp that he made headlines offstage; and so popular in the LGBTQ community that he will have an appreciative audience in Malmö – after all, he is ESC also and especially a highlight of the queer community.
For Malmö he announced: “It will be an honor to raise the flag for Great Britain in the gayest way possible!” This should be well received by the LGBTQ community.

“Dizzy” It’s a dance pop number. You might think the 80s are back with Erasure or the Pet Shop Boys. It is noticeable that Candidate from the Netherlands performs a dance number, in the same class as Olly Alexander, so to speak.
At 33, the Brit is significantly older, also more versatile and more self-confident. And he certainly has Star appeal.
ESC 2024: date, location, broadcaster and chances

Great Britain is one of them “Big Five”. This means: participation in the final is guaranteed. Alexander doesn’t need to prove himself in the semifinals.

The country already has won the ESC five times. Only Ireland and Sweden have a better balance. However, the last victory was some time ago, in 1997. The English are also inspired by their tradition musically.
