Berlin. In Lichtenrade, thousands of liters of water are poured into the Kirchhainer Damm for hours. The fire brigade is desperate for a car.
Berliners have a burst pipe Fire Department Busy for hours on Thursday night. According to initial information, the fire brigade was alerted to Lichtenrade around 1 am because large amounts of water were falling over the Kirchhainer Damm.
Finally, the Berliner Wasserbetriebe troubleshooting service was called in to stop the flooding. The emergency services began looking for suitable “sliders”, small circular covers under which there are shut-off devices. The firefighters closed two shutters, but this obviously did not help. The water continued to bubble.
A car was just above the “slider”.

The troubleshooting service finally found the correct slider. The problem: a car parked in a space blocked access. The owner of the car was quickly located, but despite ringing the doorbell several times, he would not open the front door. So a tow truck had to be called, which arrived after about 45 minutes and removed the problem car. It was not until around 3 a.m. that access to the valve was cleared and the water could be turned off. BM
