Premium savings contracts have been a bestseller for savings banks since the 1990s. In addition to interest, savers receive an annual bonus that keeps increasing. Actual interest, however, was negligible. To make matters worse, they sank quickly and rose slowly. This is unfair, the courts up to the Federal Court of Justice ruled in unison. Savers are entitled to a supplement. However, it is still not clear how to calculate and how much money the savings banks will have to return. The Federal Court of Justice (BGH) will hear the case again on Tuesday, July 9th. Consumer advocates hope that clear, consumer-friendly ads will finally be made.

The legal experts at Stiftung Warentest provide a calculator with which you can estimate, for the most common type of contract, how much money you are still entitled to, depending on the various calculation methods.
