Berlin – The Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) begins his fifth term in office in the first half of the year. Bernhard van Treeck is new to the position from the full-time impartial members. The specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy was previously a senior physician at the Northern Medical Service.
He was nominated for the position by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds and is the only doctor among the trio of arbitrators. His predecessor, Monika Lelgemann, left the G-BA at her own request after one term.
Another term as full-time members also begins for the previous impartial chairman Josef Hecken and impartial Karin Maag. All three will remain in office until June 30, 2030 and were confirmed by the Bundestag Health Committee in October last year.
The distribution of tasks and responsibilities of the respective subcommittees will be defined next Thursday, at the first meeting of the new term.
Some volunteer deputies are also new: Jörg Hermann, a specialist in dermatology, and Jörg Niemann, an economist, are just starting their work at the G-BA.
The volunteers support their full-time employees, among other things, in chairing subcommittee meetings. In addition to Hermann and Niemann, Lili Grell, Udo Degener-Hencke, Friedhelm Hase and Rolf-Ulrich Schlenker are again working as volunteers at the G-BA. © bee/aerzteblatt.de
