The Oscars has a soft black-tie dress code, emphasizing tuxedoes, gowns, and the occasional couture separates. Revealing skin, or sheer fabrics, must be used strategically and sparingly. But the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party, considered the most A-list of the after-events, allows celebs to let their hair down, figuratively, and experiment with high hems, plunging necklines, and everyday objects as clothing.
All of which is to say, you can dress as if you’re going to a really fancy club, plus VF invites a bunch of people who don’t really have anything to do with the Oscars. Pop stars, models, and athletes are all fair game for the invite list, so we get a nice variety of styles. Last year, Florence Pugh wore a Valentino bra, pants and jacket, while Halle Berry turned up in the high-fashion version of a mesh net. See all the 2023 looks here.
