Since 2018, consumer advocates have been able to clarify whether the requirements for exercising consumer rights are met. Spectacular success of such a process: VW committed to the Federal Association of Consumer Organizations (vzbv) to compensate owners of scandalous cars with too much poison in their exhaust gases. The automaker paid around 800 million euros.
